Tallahassee, FL – America First Works released the following statement regarding the Florida House of Representative’s passage of House Bill 7065: Child Welfare sponsored by Representative Thad Altman (R-Indiatlantic).
“America First Works applauds the Florida House of Representatives for the unanimous passage of House Bill 7065, legislation that targets the growing crisis that has emerged across the Nation: fatherlessness.
HB 7065 gained bipartisan support because it favors real action over political talking points and provides meaningful support and resources to the single fathers and male role models in Florida communities. Further, it encourages responsible fatherhood, alleviates the crisis of at-risk boys, and supports foster children, especially those who age out of care. Additionally, this legislation also designates June as Responsible Fatherhood Month in Florida.
Fatherlessness and the destruction of the nuclear family are often at the center of every major social issue we face today. Its effects include education, homelessness, mental health, crime, and more. If we want true equality in our country, we cannot allow the next generation to be born into broken families without a father.
We thank the Florida House of Representatives for prioritizing the issue of fatherlessness and strongly recommend that HB 7065 be passed in the Florida Senate and signed into law by Governor DeSantis. We know this legislation will set a national standard and save our children from the consequences of fatherlessness.
We urge the rest of the country to recognize the grave issue of fatherlessness and come together to solve this crisis for future generations.”
