We are thrilled to see proposed legislation to stop late term abortions and provide new resources to reduce infant mortality in Florida with the introduction of both HB 5 and SB 146. Modern medicine and science now confirm the substantial developmental milestones of an unborn baby at 15 weeks of gestational age, information that was not known or understood when Roe v. Wade was decided nearly half a century ago. Today, we are also aware of the severe health risks late term abortions pose for women. We optimistically await the passage of these bills and ultimately Governor DeSantis’ signature codifying this legislation into state law to better protect women, support families, and preserve life.
