21 Days Later: Democrats “Pause” (not disband) DHS Censorship Control Panel

May 19th, 2022

The White House announced it’s all but pulling the plug on creating a so-called Disinformation Governance Board at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary’s office less than a month after Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’s vague announcement of the Board. The announcement follows Nina Jankowicz’s resignation letter, the White House’s controversial pick to lead the censorship Board.

“I’m glad to see that DHS is stepping back from this terrible idea, but I’m still unnerved by the fact that anybody within DHS or the Biden administration would have thought to green light it in the first place,” said Chad Wolf, former acting DHS Secretary.

The White House did not announce it would formally shutter the Board and stated a DHS advisory council would likely make recommendations in 75 days.
