America First Works released the following statement praising the Oklahoma legislature for its continued leadership on the Energy Discrimination Elimination Act (House Bill 2034). This bill, which passed the Oklahoma Legislature today with bipartisan support, would keep the state out of deals with corporations that boycott oil and gas production.
“Extremist groups hijack corporations and weaponize environmental, social, and governance principles to political ends,” said Ashley Hayek, executive director for America First Works. “This bill protects Oklahomans by making the state free from discrimination against the oil and gas industry before these out-of-staters even arrive. We look forward to Governor Stitt signing this legislation into law.”
Anti-American extremists are sweeping the country, looking for new ways to impose their radical political viewpoints, and American businesses are only their latest target. These groups are using corporations, mainly banks and investment firms, as a vehicle to try to restrict capital to American energy companies. House Bill 2034 protects the state of Oklahoma from this politically motivated discrimination and stands up to corporations that would put political ideology ahead of their fiduciary duties and the interests of taxpayers and, most importantly, Oklahomans.
