Washington, D.C. – The gold standard for school choice legislation became reality today in the Grand Canyon State as Governor Doug Ducey signed H.B. 2853, the Arizona Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA), into law. The ESA program will allow families of all 1.1 million students to exercise control over where and how they spend their education funds. This advancement will revolutionize education flexibility and financial freedom, enabling Arizona to reclaim the number one ranking in the Nation for educational opportunity.
“Thanks to this legislation, children and parents are now being put first in the state of Arizona,” said Ashley Hayek, Executive Director for America First Works. “These families will have the freedom to decide how to spend their taxpayer dollars on their children’s education. Arizona’s education system is the leading example of American educational freedom and provides hope to other families fighting for school choice across the country.”
America First Works applauds Arizona House Majority Leader Ben Toma for this innovative legislation that will help heal the damage inflicted by the COVID-19 pandemic and destructive political agendas permeating classrooms. This new law makes Arizona’s education system the leading exemplar of American educational freedom and is a modern development of the American Dream.
