WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, America First Works Executive Director Ashley Hayek released the following statement in response to Governor Katie Hobbs’ (D-AZ) State of the State Address and how she has failed the people of Arizona:
“Since assuming office, Governor Katie Hobbs of Arizona has failed to protect children or advance policies that will help families in her state. Her actions, which include vetoing more bills than any other governor in the state’s history, are unproductive and harmful. Adding to her disastrous legacy is her attempt to dismantle Arizona’s landmark school choice program and neglect of the state’s election integrity issues. One of her initial decisions, to stop the construction of Arizona’s shipping container border fence, starkly signaled her unwillingness to confront the Biden Administration. Hobbs’ refusal to combat President Biden’s border crisis and prioritize the safety and well-being of her constituents has only exacerbated the devastation of Arizona communities. Inaction and failure have persisted throughout her tenure. Arizonans urgently need a governor who will prioritize them first.”
