WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, America First Works Executive Director Ashley Hayek released the following statement after the assassination attempt against President Donald J. Trump:
“The assassination attempt against President Trump was years in the making thanks to the Left’s dangerous rhetoric against their political enemies. For years, Democrats, the media, Big Tech, the Administrative State, and our Nation’s elitist class have worked tirelessly to denigrate Trump’s character and paint him as a threat. They’ve collectively tried to censor him, remove him from the ballot, bankrupt him, and even imprison him.
Leading this charge is President Joe Biden himself. Two years ago, he stood in front of a podium with a dark red background and labeled Trump and all his supporters as threats to democracy. He even called Trump a dictator just days ago. The message was received. Rep. Bennie Thompson (MS-02), for example, recently introduced legislation that would strip Secret Service protection from Trump. One of his staffer’s responses to the shooting was telling: ‘Don’t miss next time.’
The damage the Left has done to America is immeasurable. They have been fanning the flames knowing full well it is putting lives at risk. It’s time for the Left to end this dangerous game and face accountability.”
