HARRISBURG, PA — America First Works (AFW) today condemned a package of bills introduced late Friday in the Pennsylvania House that would strip scholarships from roughly 30,000 students and cut funding for charter and special-needs students. House leadership has fast-tracked the package to a committee vote Tuesday — a timeline designed to move it before families can respond.
“Late on a Friday afternoon, a plan was quietly filed to rip scholarships away from roughly 30,000 children from the families who need it most, kids who finally found a school that works, and now they’re rushing it to a vote before anyone can read it,” said Erika Donalds, AmSenior Advisor. “This isn’t policy. It’s an ambush, and they’re trying to do it in the dark.”
AFW stands with Pennsylvania families and calls on lawmakers to reject this package and protect every parent’s right to choose the school that best serves their child.
