AFW: Full Support for the FCC’s E-Rate NPRM

June 25th, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, America First Works (AFW) applauds the Federal Communications Commission’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, Ensuring Children’s Safe Use of Screens and E-Rate-Funded Services, and urges the Commission to adopt it without delay.

“Technology in the hands of America’s students should serve as helpful tools, not harmful to their futures. Unsupervised internet access and excessive screen use are a recipe for disaster for our children. The Surgeon General and parents across the country have been sounding the alarm on this. Now it’s time for the government to respond.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr is on the right track in questioning the outdated E-Rate. Its original 1997 mission of connecting schools and libraries to the internet was well-intended. But as technology has updated, so should federal policy. For the sake of America’s children, we urge the Commission to move forward with ensuring a healthy and safe learning environment.”

– Ashley Hayek, President of America First Works
